What should i be
im sure this kind of post got kinda old over the years but... whatever
so i stopped playing guildwars way back because a good friend of mine wanted to try another game so so did i . i feel sorry i did because i liked the game, but i couldnt resist to try new games with him
however now im back and i wanna make some cool characters that suit my playstyle.
my knowledge of the characters is very limited but im gonna try, and i hope i can get some responses.
i like playing casters, and when i do i like crowdcontroll, and hard hitting stuff. also i like staying alive, and helping the team. offcourse this is all the things you CAN do with a caster, and i doubt theres someone who can do it all with great success. personally i was thinking about a necro/mesmer or m/n combo, because i do know they can be very annoying, and keep mobs and people from doing certain things, or hurt themselves while doing just that.
so my question is... can i put out some hurt with a n/m ? if played right can i be so annoying people will drop to the floor and cry..... or just hate me. and how effective can i take out a melee or caster with it.
now i know this hardly qualifys as info on what i like, as it most likely will cover ALOT of characters and styles. just hoping someone can advise me on the matter, with as little info i did give out.
ow and if i should be a n/m or a m/n, i believe the only difference is fastcast or soulreaping or something.. doesnt sound to important unless i wanna interupt..
well anyone, plz reply, and i`ll get back to you ^_^

well i dont know about crowdcontrol but a hard hitting caster would be your ele. dont have to heal but rez would be why i suggested mo as 2ndary which can link to "staying alive"
IMO, n/me would be "crowdcontrol" caster but without the hard hitting part.

i think wot you need to do is go to the skill listings of both professions and see exactly what skills you want to use as primary and maybe you can sort out if you want nec to be 1st or 2nd prof.

just a few more questions...
first of all how long into the game can i change my secondery class ?
and... can a necro primary be as competetive as any other ? or does the "useless" soulreaping hurt in the long run..
if not i`ll just make a necro/mesmer right away and change the mesmer if i get bored of it... or a elementalist main for the mana... bah there i go again :/ nevermind

If your looking to single handedly turn a battle in your favor, look for another game as playing with an induvidualist attitude will likely lead you to failure.
The Closest you can get to that is with Warriors, necros or Mesmers (possibly assasins if we can find an application for them.)
Every profession's primary attribute are useless in diffrent situations.
Warrior's Primary is alot less helpful on softer targets.
Necros dont really get much out of soulreaping in corpse light battles or very fast ones (4 deaths at once, and you waste close to 20 energy sometimes).
Mesmer's fast cast hurts energy management by letting you use spells slightly more often and is only usefull in situations where slow 1 second casttimes are a norm for you.
Elementalist's Energy storage isnt as glamorous as it might seem, as you blow through it with amazing speed and get it back slower than a computer in the 1980s.
Expertise only affects skills marked with the type "Skill" or "Attack" in any of their respective forms. other wise, its a waste of points.
Divine Favor is possibly the most limited of all of the attributes. It only affects monk skills targeting allies. it makes healing and protection lines far better, but smiting gets less of a bonus.
All and all, no profession is entirely useless and all will find a home somewhere. you just need to get your play style and desires in order. Then and only then can we help you properly.
